David joined the CME team in January 2024 as Senior Policy Adviser, having previously worked at the Australian Medical Association (WA).  In his former role of Policy Lead at the AMA (WA), he managed policy development and submissions, working on a variety of issues including the introduction of voluntary assisted dying laws in WA, medical workforce analysis, WA’s response to COVID-19, reforms in WA’s public hospital system and reviewing and advocating for legislative change.  He also supported industrial agreement negotiations on behalf of WA doctors.

David has a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B (Hons)) from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and a Master of Laws (Specialising in Human Rights & Social Justice) from UNSW. His professional interests include government relations, policy development and advocacy, with a particular interest in the relationships between corporate entities and communities.  He enjoys engaging and working closely with CME members to ensure policy and legislative development continue to support WA’s mineral and energy sector.
