WHS goes on tour to the Goldfields!

CME was awarded funding as part of the Work Health and Safety Implementation Peak Body Grants program (the Program). The program was established to provide funding for peak employer and employee representative bodies to partner with the government in supporting and educating Western Australian businesses and workers about the pending changes to work health and safety laws.

CME invited guests to attend the first events under the program last week in Perth and Kalgoorlie, taking the WHS team on tour! The informative Mine Safety Management Systems (MSMS) workshop was a success and provided members and attendees with the opportunity to hear directly from the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) and talk to their peers on the development and maintenance of a MSMS.

Under the WHS (Mines) Regulations, it is a requirement for a mine operator to develop, maintain, and implement a MSMS for a mine or exploration operation. So, if you or your company missed out, DMIRS is also hosting a series of free information sessions for small to medium mines. You may register here.

As you can see in the photo above, CME’s Health, Safety and People (WHS) team was so excited to be on tour in Kalgoorlie!
