$6.5m announced in drilling and energy analysis grants

The Geological Survey of WA has announced the successful applicants for co-funded drilling grants in Round 23 of the Exploration Incentive Scheme’s (EIS) flagship industry co-funding initiative. Round 23 sees an allocation of $6.56 million, with $1.3 million in additional funding sourced from the McGowan Government’s WA Recovery Plan.

Successful grant locations are spread across WA and feature a wide range of commodities, providing a strong indication of the strength and diversity present in exploration throughout WA.

CME members are among the grant recipients, with Gold Road Resources featured twice alongside successful grants for drilling prospects from BHP Nickel West, Newmont Exploration and Regis Resources.

CME congratulates all successful Round 23 recipients. The number of applicants and quality of applications continues to send a clear message regarding the strength of activity in WA’s exploration industry.

A recent long-term economic assessment of the EIS commissioned by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) highlighted the benefit of ongoing investment in the exploration sector by the State government, with every $1 invested in the EIS generating a $31 value return to WA.
