2021 Diversity and Inclusion Survey – coming soon

This biennial survey will ask about your organisational policies, strategies, initiatives and progress towards achieving diversity and inclusion in the workplace. First carried out in 2011,  the survey measures the participation of women and Indigenous employees across the WA resources sector.  This information is the foundation of our  Diversity and Inclusion in the WA Resources Sector report, with the last iteration accessible here.

This year, the data will enable CME to respond to questions or recommendations arising from the WA Parliamentary Inquiry Into Sexual Harassment Against Women In The FIFO Mining Industry on behalf of members. Your company’s primary survey contact will shortly receive further information about the survey.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out through survey@cmewa.com for further information.

Diversity and Inclusion Reference Group Meeting

The DIRG reconvened in late July to discuss emerging trends, establish a workplan, set intentions and agree priorities for the remainder of the year. This session was held prior to CME’s submission to the WA Parliamentary Inquiry into sexual harassment against women in the FIFO mining industry and the group heard of work underway and planned to support this piece of work. This was followed by a robust discussion about supporting safe and respectful behaviours in workplace-adjacent contexts. Members endorsed the proposed workplan, and will seek to establish working groups with a focus on its categories to support delivery.

Family and Domestic Violence Working Group

Established in 2019 and spearheaded by Rio Tinto, the Family & Domestic Violence (FDV) industry collaboration working group kicked off annual planning activities last week. The group has run successful events in support of increased awareness and support for people experiencing FDV for the past two years, timed to coincide with 16 Days of Activism and International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Planning is in its early stages for these events to continue for the third consecutive year.
