Lung Foundation Australia (Lung Foundation) was appointed by the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Aged Care to facilitate the development of the 2023–2028 National Silicosis Prevention Strategy (NSPS) and accompanying National Action Plan (NAP). The NSPS and NAP outline the commitment to help protect Australian workers and eliminate silicosis as an occupational lung disease in Australia. CME welcomed the Lung Foundation commitment to consulting with industry to identify feedback on the priority areas outlined. As with all health and safety hazards, industry takes a risk-based approach to the management of occupational health hazards.
