Resources Sector Consortium - Skilled Migration Adviser
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) works in partnership with industry bodies to assist employers gain a better understanding of how to access DIAC services. Various peak industry bodies throughout Australia are allocated DIAC Industry Outreach Officers who are placed to fulfil this role.
A DIAC Industry Outreach Officer (IOO) is placed with CME to support employers in the resources sector in Western Australia seeking to employ skilled overseas workers on either a temporary or permanent basis. The IOO position is held by senior government immigration officials whom assist clients with their immigration queries and to help clients navigate the often complex immigration processes.
IOOs provide information to industry regarding:
- visa options available under the Skilled Migration streams to fill short or long term skill shortages in the labour market
- completion of paperwork including online application lodgement (e-lodgement)
- a variety of other DIAC services
