Unearthing Careers in Resources Conference

Following the success of the inaugural conference in 2009, CME will be holding the second Unearthing Careers in Resources Conference on Thursday 3 June 2010.
The 2009 conference hosted over 100 career advisors from schools, TAFEs, Universities and career advice centres to learn about the vast range of careers available within the resources sector.
This year speakers from various fields within the resources industry will discuss their current occupation and their career pathway. Delegates will also hear from education and training providers about the opportunities available that lead directly into the resources sector.
TOPICS
Presentations and exhibitions will focus on the following topics:
- the range of career opportunities within the resources sector
- skills in demand – what fields are expecting skills shortages in the near future
- education and training requirements and opportunities
- career pathways including Vocational Education, Training, University qualifications and on the job training
- tips for job seekers – what are the major resource companies looking for and how should you apply
- apprenticeships, traineeships, vacation work and graduate programs
- the benefits of working in the resources sector
OPTIONAL SITE TOUR
Delegates will have a unique opportunity to visit an operating mine site, refinery and an industry training organisation. The site tour is an optional activity, being held on Friday 4 June 2010, the day after the conference.
