Saint
Barbara is recognised as the Patron Saint of Miners and a statue and

The Miners Memorial Service is held in the square to
honor the men and women who have lost their lives servicing the mining

members, mine management and mines rescue personnel. Members of the
public are encouraged to attend and lay floral tributes if they wish.
A symbolic miner’s lamp will be lit to signify the beginning of the Festival.

Saturday 4th December 2010, 3.30 to 5.30pm
Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie
Undoubtedly the showcase of the St Barbara’s Festival, the Parade is a fun filled extravaganza for the whole family!
Thousands of people gather for the Parade to watch enormous pieces of mining equipment rumble down historical Hannan Street including an enormous KCGM Cat 793 Haul Truck standing 6 metres tall, 8 metres wide and 13 metres long!
Along with mining equipment, you can expect to see community organisations, schools, animals, prospectors and mines rescue demonstrations - you might even catch a glimpse of a Christmas elf!
The Parade makes its way down Hannan Street from 4.00pm, but there’s plenty of pre-parade activities happening in St Barbara’s Square starting from 3.30pm.
