Electrical Fitter

Electrical fitters are mainly engaged in making, fitting or repairing electrical machines and instruments. Electrical fitters in the minerals industry may perform the following tasks:

  • read mechanical drawings, electrical wiring diagrams or specifications;
  • decide which parts and materials are needed;
  • make or alter metal parts, assemble parts and check that they line up and fit properly;
  • select and cut wires or cables position and assemble parts on site;
  • complete electrical calculations;
  • test equipment using meters;
  • rewind motors;
  • undertake H.V. switching;
  • perform CPR and/or gain a first aid certificate.
