Tenement Manager

Tenement managers on a mine site are involved with acquisition, retention and eventual disposal of title to areas of land required by the minerals industry; particularly during the exploration, mining and processing activities.

  • Tenement managers may perform the following tasks:
  • interpretation of relevant legislation;
  • preparation and lodging of applications of tenure with government;
  • maintenance of tenements following grant, eg;
    • payment of rent and rates;
    • ensuring reports are submitted;
    • ensuring field staff are aware of the conditions under which access to land is granted;
    • ensuring conditions of tenure are satisfied;
    • applications for renewal;
  • negotiating with the various government departments that have management responsibility for land;
  • negotiating access agreements with landowners;
  • monitoring earning provisions of joint ventures and option agreements.
